06/03/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/03/15 13:19 BASIC INFO Classic’s family bought him from a pet store when he was a puppy. His owner moved to a home that doesn’t allow pets and surrendered him. Classic had demodex mange as a puppy and still has redness, hairloss, and tough gray skin. SOCIALIZATION Classic is outgoing and friendly with strangers. He lived with children of all ages and is relaxed, playful, and tolerant with them. He plays gently with people. He hasn’t spent much time with other dogs, but is relaxed and sniffs them on walks. He’s never bit anyone. BEHAVIOR Classic has no known behavior issues. He sits near his family during storms. Classic is friendly with strangers that approach his home/family. He doesn’t mind when someone takes his food/treat/toy, moves him off furniture, bathes him, brushes him, trims his nails, holds/restrains him, or wakes him up. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Classic’s family describes him as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, confident, and medium energy. His owner reports that his favorite activities are eating, sleeping, and being near his family, so he thinks he will adjust well to a new home. He loves that he’s so loving, mellow, and tolerant. He sometimes follows his family and sometimes rests on his dog bed. He likes to chew marrow bones. Classic lived inside and ate dry dog food. He’s housetrained and doesn’t have accidents. He potties mostly in grass. He’s well-behaved when home alone loose in the house. He’s sometimes left in a crate and does well there too. He knows sit, come, and down. He went for slow and brisk walks on his leash and doesn’t pull. INTAKE Classic had a soft body, open mouth, and wagging tail and sniffed me during handling-scan (-), collar, petting. He sat when asked for his pictures. He backed away from his kennel, so his owner lifted him in.

A volunteer writes: Voted the dog I’d most like to get caught in a rainstorm with, Classic is indeed a classic! Handsome, sweet, snuggly, gentle and quiet, at 8 years young he’s still quite the charmer! As we snuggle together he gives me gentle kisses, enjoys some treats which he takes softly and that’s after showing me his ‘sit’. Surrendered by the only family he’s ever known as they’re moving, they tell us that he’s outgoing and friendly, is housetrained (confirmed by me), crate trained but doesn’t need it as he’s well behaved when left home alone, knows ‘sit’ (which he showed me), ‘come’ and ‘down’. His former family family’s favorite thing about him is that he’s “loving, mellow and tolerant”, and his favorite things are “eating, sleeping and being near his family”. Classic showed me lovely leash manners as we found a dry place in which to cuddle, soft and easy body language and the gentlest personality. He’s indeed a gem and the perfect companion with whom to hunker down and watch your favorite TV show. He will even let you choose the show, although he told me that he does like Animal Planet! Classic is looking forward to getting to know his new family and we’re cheering for him to spend the rest of his life in a soft bed, eating good food, and snuggling with his new people. He’s a great dog!

He doesn’t mind when someone takes his food, treats and toys. During the assessment Classic showed guarding issues (food bowl and rawhide test). He may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address this food guarding behavior. In addition to food behavior modification protocol we recommend teaching Classic “Drop It” and trade-up games. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior. We also recommend a home without children. Look: 2.
