11/07/15 Basic Information Chucho A1057222 is a 4 yr. old male mini poodle mix who was surrendered due to his family not having enough time for him. He was given to his family as a gift and lived with his family for a year and a half. Socialization Chucho is fearful and retreats when he’s around strangers. Chucho did live with a 6 yr. old whom he avoided and vice versa. Chucho hasn’t had any contact with any other animals and rarely plays in his home. Behavior Chucho uses the bathroom indoors. Chucho was food aggressive and would often snap at whoever came near his food bowl or his one toy (ball).Chucho hasn’t received any grooming in the past year. For a family to know Chucho is described as Independent with an extremely low activity level. His favorite toy was a ball and is said to only eat soft food but prefers human food. Chucho was never taken outdoors and didn’t have a designated area in the home to use the bathroom. During intake Chucho was very shy and retreated form staff. when approached to be leashed by staff he growled than lunged instantly. He was scanned (-) but was very wary of the device. He allowed to be photographed but couldn’t be collared. He did allow to be placed in the kennel using two staff member with no struggle or signs of aggression.

Chucho is fearful of the shelter environment he walks with a low and fearful body language, he tries to hide under the desk and chair. Chucho was fearful and repeatedly attempted to get away from the handler during the assessment. He becomes extremely frightened during the tag interaction, tail tucked, and trying to exit room. Chucho was not interested in toys. Chucho was surrender to us. According to his previous owner Chucho is fearful and retreats when he’s around strangers. Chucho did live with a 6 yr. old whom he avoided and vice versa. Chucho hasn’t had any contact with any other animals and rarely plays in his home. The owner stated that Chucho have some guarding issues he would often snap at whoever came near his food bowl or his toy”. Because of his owner profile the behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, shy body language, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 3. Dog repeatedly turns quickly away when touched, or repeatedly spins toward the touch, and repeatedly tries to exit, Dog may be crouching ,tail is tucked, mouth closed, body stiff Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1. No interest. When off leash with other dogs, Chucho is nervous and corrects solicitation. He makes attempts to exit the pen.
