I am a male black and white am pit bull ter mix. The shelter thinks I am about 9 MONTHS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 08/28/2015 from NY 11106, owner surrender reason stated was OWNER SICK.

08/28/15 11:32 Basic information Chubby is a 8 month old, black and white male American Pit bull terrier with no known medical conditions. Owner has had Chubby for 3 months and is surrendering because of health reasons. Socialization Chubby has lived with children ages 9 and 4 and is respectful relaxed and playful with them. With adults and strangers Chubby is very playful and likes to jump up on them. Chubby has not lived with other cats or dogs but has interacted with dogs in the neighborhood in a playful manor. Behavior Chubby still has his puppy moments and will sometimes chew on the children’s toys if they are left out on the floor. Chubby isn’t bothered by storms or fireworks. Chubby allows having his food, toys and bones taken away from him. During bath time Chubby is a little afraid and will try to jump out of the water. Chubby enjoys being brushed but owners have not attempted to trim his nail. When told to get off the furniture Chubby will jump down right away with no problem. When someone unfamiliar approaches the house Chubby will bark but once they enter he will greet them with a loose wiggly body seeking attention. When someone unfamiliar approaches family outside Chubby is relaxed and eager to greet them. For the new family to know Chubby was described as Playful, affectionate and friendly with a high activity level. Chubby is house trained and well behaved when left in the house alone. When home with Chubby he will follow you around wanting to play or get belly rubs. Chubby enjoys playing with ropes and balls which he will play fetch or tug with. Chubby also loves to play with plastic bottles. Chubby knows the commands sit, down paw, come and hug. For exercise Chubby loves to play in the park with the children. When off the leash chubby will wander some but comes back when called. Chubby eats IAMS Dry food twice a day. Chubby pulls lightly on the leash and goes to the bathroom on grass. Behavior during intake Chubby was quiet and relaxed during intake. Chubby laid on the floor and fell asleep. When woken up by owner Chubby wagged his tail. Chubby allowed Counselor to scan him with loose wiggly body. When attempting to collar Chubby was slightly tense. Chubby allowed to have his picture taken and went into kennel with ease.

Chubby previously lived with 1 adult and children ages 9 and 4. The owner stated Chubby is respectful relaxed and playful with them and same as the adults. The owner describes Chubby as Playful, affectionate and friendly. The owner mentioned Chubby is house trained, well behaved when home alone and has a high activity level. It was reported by the owner Chubby allows having his food, toys and bones taken away from him. At intake Chubby was quiet, relaxed with loose body posture wagging his tail, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Chubby came into the assessment room with high energy, he was friendly towards the assessor, he allowed all handling to be conducted. During Tag interaction Chubby got easily aroused but quickly de-escalates. During resources portion of the assessment on food and rawhide items Chubby freezes and growls when trying to remove his head from the items, and on toy item he takes away with stiff body posture. Due to some concerns on food and rawhide items, the behavior department feels it’s best he can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag 3. Dog gets easily aroused but quickly de-escalates. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Toy 1: 3. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is stiff. Rawhide: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Chubby is anxious and mostly paces the pen but does greet the other dog briefly.
