07/09/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/09/15 14:02 BASIC INFO: Chopper A1043361 is a 8 month old, male Mastiff/Rottweiler Mix. He was a gift to the Family from a business owner in the neighborhood they live. The Family had Chopper for 7 months, but can no longer keep due to Chopper becoming too big, and the Landlord complaining about him. He does not have any health concerns and has neverf been taken to a Veterinarian. SOCIALIZATION: Chopper is friendly around strangers. He lived with 3 children ages, 9, 11, and 14. He played somewhat rough with the children, and he also plays somewhat rough with adults as well. He has never lived with another dog, but does not like small breed dogs. He has lived with 3 cats of which he was very relaxed, playful and respectful with. BEHAVIOR: The only behavior issue I can think that Chopper has is that he does not like small breed dogs and he does chew on pillows when left home alone. During loud noises, he is nervous. If you touch or move his food bowl, toy or treat, he does growl. He is not bothered if you push him off of furniture, or if you awaken him from his sleep. He enjoys taking a bath and having his coat brushed. Owner never trimmed his nails. If an unfamiliar approaches a family member he does bark. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: Chopper is very friendly, affectionate, playful and can be pushy sometimes when he wants to play. He has a very high activity level. He loves to play with balls, He plays fetch and tug. He is kept mainly indoors and sleeps on a queen sized mattress. He is fed Purina puppy chow both wet and dry twice a day. He is very house trained but does have accidents rarely. Outside he prefers to go on grass and indoors he will go on a wee wee pad. When alone in the yard he is well behaved. He listens to the command sit. For exercise he would be taken to an off leash dog park and stay by his Owner. He does pull hard on the leash, when off leash he stays by your side. BEHAVIOR UPON INTAKE: Chopper allowed all handling, scanning (negative) and photo taking. Was placed in kennel and quickly began to bark.
07/15/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Chopper is quite an unusual pup said to be a cross between a Rotweiler and a Mastiff. Just a babe at 8 months of age and already so big. What a beauty. An upturned long nose, a round forehead, large paws and a silky coat borrowing its pattern from an exotic wood. Chopper has been so well cared for and yet he is with us because he grew too big. Like it was… unexpected. Chopper is a strong young boy who has lived in harmony with kids… and cats (such a bonus). He is known to play enthusiastically and sometimes roughly. He would be housetrained, very playful, obedient, affectionate, and behaves well when alone. He would pull strongly on the leash and dislikes small dogs, the only flaw that his former owner could think of about Chopper. Chopper is indeed a powerful young man but once off leash, he is rather pleasant to be with. He is soft in his manners, comes for hugs and caresses, loves to be petted and is glad to meet through the fence, people and dogs alike, surprisingly, even the little ones. His tiny tail wags non stop. He certainly can run and jump high as well as pull on the leash. He is no tiny Poodle. Chopper participated of course in playgroups. He was a bit overwhelmed by his new friends as I do not think he was used to mingling with other pooches. Being a good natured and young dog, he will learn very quickly. Chopper is one of a kind, a handsome and friendly pup who dreams to be once again the star of the house. Come and meet him soon. Make him your forever best friend.
