04/29/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper Dog:A1028933 Chocolate previously lived with adults and 2 children, and the owner stated she gets along well with children as well as strangers. Chocolate has also lived with other dogs, and the owner stated that Chocolate tends to be dog selective, and has bitten another dog in the past. It was also mentioned that Chocolate is paper-trained. During SAFER Chocolate was sociable towards the assessor, and gently jumped up when greeting. She was relaxed during all of the handling items, as well as the tag interaction, but was easily distracted by her surroundings. Chocolate was not interested in any of the resource items that were given to her, and she showed no interest when the items were removed. During the dog-dog interaction, Chocolate rushed in quickly towards the helper dog with stiff body language. Chocolate does appear to have some discomfort with other dogs, and would be best suited for an experienced adopter who is able to safely manage, as well as a home with no other dogs. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is open for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft and a bit distracted. Squeeze 1 & 2: 2. Dog quickly pulls back. Food: Inconclusive, dog is not eating. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 3. Dog approaches the helper dog by rushing in with her tail high, stiff body, head tall, and ears erect.
05/02/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
When off leash with other dogs Chocolate is stiff upon greeting with a flagging tail. She exhibits a stalking behavior and may try to mount. When corrected she will over correct in response and continues to escalate even when the dog has walked away. 5/8 update: Chocolate was muzzled for this interaction due to her previous behaviors while socializing. She is tense while greeting with her ears pinned back. She is more comfortable with further interactions, however, allowing the helper dog to sniff her without any corrections.
