04/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Chocolate pulls a bit with a low body language trying to hide behind person or object. He was fearful and attempted to get away from the handler during some items of the assessment. Chocolate was shy and nervous during handling, with fearful body language. He becomes extremely frightened during the tag interaction, tail tucked, trying to exit room. Chocolate raised his paw (this is very cute but the dog is not happy and does not want to be petted or bothered. He is worried). He was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. He does not approach other dog, attempts to exit. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter. This dog is fearful and need an adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. We also recommend a home without children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 3. Dog repeatedly turns quickly away when touched, or repeatedly spins toward the touch, and repeatedly tries to exit, Dog may be crouching ,tail is tucked, mouth closed, body stiff Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 1. No interest. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1.No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog. A shelter staff member writes: Chocolate is a bit scared when in a new environment with all complete strangers around him. He will however warm up to you if you give him some time. He was found as a stray where a kind finder brought him to their home to stay so our transport team could come and pick him up. We don’t know what this little puppy has been through, but he is a pretty shy boy who needs to be shown that his human will be the most loving being he will ever meet! Chocolate needs an experienced owner to go slow with him until he unravels into the sweet dog he can be. Come give him his chance today at MACC!
