07/16/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Chissy is very patient in her kennel. She is beautiful and so calm but her eyes do not loose track of my ins and outs of her ward. She is waiting very lady like for her turn to go out. Finally….We are out in the yard in no time…Her den is clean and Chissy does her business as soon as we are in the open. She is really gorgeous in her almost all white coat, pure milk…She is so girly too, poses for pictures, sitting, standing on her four or hinds…She is quite a fashion model and so easy to photograph..Chissy spots a ball in a corner of the pen where she is, leash free. She seizes it and brings it …to me…I knew you were no backyard dog, so well groomed and healthy looking..Someone taught you to play. And indeed, she is a great ball player, running, jumping very high and never missing the catch…A good retriever she is too. The sereine beauty looks quite passionate too. What a turn around. Chissy pulls slightly on the leash but slows down upon request. She sits on command and comes at the call of her given name. She meets peacefully other dogs. Chissy is at the Manhattan Care Center, a gorgeous, sociable and playful girl who will make a great forever best friend. Come and meet her soon.
07/14/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Chissy walks calmly on leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Chissy engages in play, body is loose and wiggly, mouth open. Chissy showed some concerning behavior during the food bowl test – stiffening and growling, but did not snap at or bite the assess-a-hand. She was not interested in toys or rawhide. Chissy approached other dog with friendly/playful body language. Chissy was friendly and playful during the assessment but showed guarding behavior during the food bowl test. Chissy may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address this food guarding behavior. In addition to food behavior modification protocol we recommend teaching Chissy “Drop It” and trade-up games. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior. We also recommend a home without children. Look: 2.
