12/29/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Chewy previously lived with 2 adults and 3 young children as well as 3 cats. The owner stated Chewy is respectful and tolerant of the cats in the home and will sometimes engage for play and also enjoys being pet by the family. The owner mentioned Chewy will eliminate on his walks but he will eliminate inside as well and well behaved when home alone. At intake it was reported Chewy was friendly and loose for all handling. During SAFER Chewy came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Chewy was relaxed during the tag interaction. During Paw squeeze test Chewy would not allow the assessor to grab his paw, next flank was applied which he didn’t respond at all and during the resources portion of the assessment Chewy was easy to handle when engaged with the item. The behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 3. Dog is soft in body and eye, and moves his legs/body so that the Assessor is unable to hold the paw Flank squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Chewy greets them appropriately and is tolerant of pushy players. However, he spends most of his time interacting with the handlers and exploring his surroundings.
