07/18/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Chewie previously lived with 1 adult, 2 three year old children and 2 cats. The owner stated Chewie was very tolerant and respectful towards both the children and the cats. The owner mentioned when someone unfamiliar approaches the home chewie will bark but greet them by jumping up and licking them. The owner describes Chewie as playful, friendly and affectionate with a high activity level. It was mentioned by the owner Chewie is crate trained and house trained. At intake Chewie was reported to be very sociable, and jumped on the counselor when greeting. During SAFER Chewie came into the assessment room with high energy, loose and wiggly with his mouth open, he was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Chewie was excited during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Chewie was easy to handle when engaged with the items. In between items Chewie was mouthy but with no pressure. Although Chewie is sociable, He appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. In addition, the previous owner mentioned that Chewie plays somewhat rough and will jump on people, so the department feels this can be too much for younger children to manage, so Chewie would likely do best with an experienced adopter with no young children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1.
