04/19/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/19/15 12:19 Officers stated that she was very friendly. During the intake, she had a soft body and soft eyes, and a wagging tail that was not up. She was eager to be petted and wagged her tail and leaned into you the more she was petted. She allowed handling and showed no signs of aggression. She seemed to like playing tug and would grab the leash and pull on it playfully. She let go of the leash whenever I stopped pulling in the opposite direction.
04/22/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: My first walk of the day and I’m in love! Quiet in her kennel, likely housetrained, great on the leash, this petite little gray and white girl had me at the first wag of her tail. As we walk to the park, heads turn to watch her go, and compliments about her follow me down the street. In the park she picks up a stick, her tail wagging at capturing her prize, head held high through the park. At one point another “better” stick catches her eye, so she drops the current prize and picks up the other. Carrying it all the way back to the shelter we head for the back yard where she gives it a good chomp the moment she’s off leash. Her coat is gorgeous, her compact little body bears evidence of many litters, her gray eyes match the gray in her coat, and her pretty nose and mouth look like she used her mom’s lipstick and smeared it. Too cute! She’s wiggly butt playful, loves toys and balls, and had a great time laying froggy style pulling apart a plush toy. Kongs and heavy duty toys are a must for this girl! Playing a good game of fetch I can take the ball right out of her mouth for another throw, until she decides she’s had enough and lays down for a chomp. She loves other dogs, is a gentle player, and was a rockstar in play with others. Chestnut did well in her behavior assessment and demonstrated how much she likes to play so a home without young children is recommended. This little miss hopped back into her kennel with her tennis ball, and when I passed by a short time later, she was asleep with the tennis ball at her nose. This cutie patootie is hoping you’ll stop by to meet her today; she’s adorably delicious and can’t wait to meet her new family.
04/21/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Chestnut pulls a bit on the leash. She was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. Chestnut was overexcited during handling, jumping up, grabbing at the leash, and was hard to position, but showed no aggression. She did a lot of jumping up, body checking and played tug-of-war with the leash during tag interaction. Chestnut was not interested in food or rawhide. She was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful. Chestnut is an active dog she need a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. The behavior department feels that she can go to an experience home. Chestnut needs an adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. Her body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) She is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place his body between you and the rawhide. Dog – dog 1. Dog approaches the helper, soft body, tail neutral, but not playful. Helper: A1033332
