06/16/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Every bit as sweet as her name, Cheesecake is a delightful girl with whom to spend some time. Gentle, calm, easy, great leash manners, likely housetrained, gorgeously groomed and full figured in her gray and white coat she’s the perfect soft companion. I met Cheesecake first in her play group, and while she was happy to be there and is tolerant of other dogs, she wasn’t engaged in play at the time. She greets other dogs appropriately with a gentle tail wag and great manners, and is every inch a lady. I stopped to take some pictures of another dog in the park, and she stood quietly watching until I was done. Good girl Cheesecake! She was then a great model for her own pictures, making soft eye contact, giving me a big smile and enjoying her reward treats. I turned on the water fountain in the park so she could drink and since the water was splashing her on the head she didn’t drink. She then tried to dry her face with her paws! Our little diva didn’t like getting splashed! If you’re looking for a gentle, calm and easy lifetime companion, Cheesecake is the girl you want to meet. Ask to meet her today.
06/15/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cheesecake came to our center as a stray. She was friendly upon intake and walked nicely on leash, no pulling. Cheesecake allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, lip lick. She leaned in, tail high, with soft body during Sensitivity item. Cheesecake played along during Tag game, jumping on assessor at end of game. She did not pull her paw back during both Squeeze attempts, wagging her tail, mouth open. Cheesecake had minimal interest in Food, sniffing it before turning away. Cheesecake held Toy with a firm grip, offering play bows and loose, wiggly body. She had minimal interest in Rawhide. Cheesecake seemed interested in play with other dogs but did not engage, interested in human interaction with handler. The Behavior Team feels Cheesecake would do well in an Average home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is high with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is close, lip long. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game, indicates play with soft ‘popping’ of the body, jumping on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed, tail wagging. Food. Minimal interest, sniffs then turns away. Toy 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly, offering play bows. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Rawhide 1. Minimal interest. Dog-to-Dog: Dog will correct appropriately for pushy, constant mounting. Greets politely and is interested in human interaction.
