07/23/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/23/15 17:22HRS BASIC INFORMATION Chasity is a 3 year old spayed Labrador retriever and Shepherd mix. She lived with her owner for the past 6 months. She is being surrendered because her owner is unable to continue caring for her. SOCIAL LIFE & PERSONALITY Chasity is described as an affectionate and playful dog. She lived with adults only. When she would see other dogs on the street, she would try to approach them and play with them. She would jump up onto her owners and lick them. She was kept primarily indoors but allowed free play in the owner’s backyard. BEHAVIOR Chasity was accustomed to being bathed every two weeks. She allowed her owner to touch her food while eating and to remove items from her mouth. When the doorbell rang, she would run around in circles with her tag wagging. She approached the visitors playfully seeking attention. Her owner stated that if she is left alone in the kitchen, she will rummage through the garbage. Chasity is house trained and can go without being walked for at least 6 hours. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Chasity’s owner describes her as obedient. She knows the commands sit and down and responds well to her name. She is walked 2x a day and allowed off leash walks with her owner. She would stay close to her owner when walked off leash. She chewed on squeaky toys and played games like fetch and chase. She will follow her owner around the home. She was fed Pedigree dry dog food or Alpo canned food. She becomes nervous around loud thunderstorms, where she begins whining and hiding. DURING INTAKE Chasity approached the Admissions Counselor with a loose body, wagging tail. She attempted to jump onto the Admissions Counselors lap and lick the counselor on the face. She was collared, scanned for a microchip (positive) and photographed without displaying any aggressive behavior.

WEB MEMO

Chasity is one of the prettiest dogs I have ever met even that the shape she is in makes me want to cry…Indeed, Chasity is literally skin and bones and one wonders what is the story behind her very poor condition…Her coat is beautiful, though, well groomed, golden and red and her eyes are lively, clear and deep mahogany. Can you picture Chasity well fed, well cared for and loved? It is not difficult but how do we get her there? With your help, of course… Chasity needs a new owner as the one who relinquished her to the care center is not able to care for a pet anymore. Chasity is beyond hungry, jumping and snatching treats out of my hand. She is a good girl, though and does not growl if food is removed for behavioral testing purposes. She is surprisingly high energy but I suspect that it is the result of attention seeking like a child who does not get his or her share of love and care. Chasity does play with a ball that she does not guard and loves to be on the lap. She is such a kisser, beaming to be in the arms of a caretaker. Chasity needs a hero who promises to stand by her, attend to her health issues and condition and bring back the glow  and livelyhood a young dog should have. Chasity is waiting for you at the Manhattan Care Center

07/25/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Chasity came to us as an owner surrender on 7/23/15. It was reported by the owner that Chasity is an affectionate and playful dog that only lived with adults. She was very interested in interacting with assessor when entering the behavior, constantly soliciting attention. It was also observed that Chasity is a submissive grinner and will sometimes wrinkle her nose in a non-aggressive display. She maintained soft and loose body language throughout all tactile assessment items. She ate faster, was a bit stiff and very difficult to push out of the food bowl, but did not growl, snap or bite. Chasity was very easy to handle when chewing on the rawhide item. When interacting with another dog on leash Chasity displayed very friendly and playful body language. The behavior department believes that Chasity can go to a home with an experienced adopter. Chasity shows potential for possessive behavior over the food item, which may be contributed to her severely underweight condition, but Chasity may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address this behavior should it manifest in a home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. She indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog might jump on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Food: 3. Dog gulps food, begins to eat faster and with bigger bites, body stiff. She does not lift head when hand is applied to cheek. Toy: 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells, licks and mouths, then walks away. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the rawhide. Dog – dog 1. Dog approaches the helper dog in play position. Her mouth is open.
