I am a male white and brown chihuahua sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 3 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 06/01/2015 from NY 10458, owner surrender reason stated was INAD FACIL.

06/01/15 21:03 Basic Information: Chance is a three year old male dog who was given as a gift to his previous owner. Chance’s previous owner could not handle taking care of Chance any more. Chance has no known health problems or injuries. Socialization: Chance is very fearful and aggressive around strangers. Chance plays very excitedly with his owner and has been around children ages 4 to 6. Chance has been around one cat and is very playful with that cat,. Chance has never been around any other dogs. Behavior: Chance tends to have accidents indoors daily and get very nervous during fireworks and thunderstorms. Chance will growl when anyone goes near his food, treats or toys when he is using them. Chance is not bothered by anyone moving him off of the furniture, giving him a bath, restraining him. When anyone unfamiliar approaches his home or family he will begin to growl, bark and show teeth. For a New Family to Know: Chance’s previous owner describes him as playful, confident, excitable, affectionate, fearful, mellow and friendly Chance’s activity level is very high and when he his home with his owner he will follow his owner around. Chance likes to play with squeaky toys, balls and enjoys playing fetch. Chance has been kept mostly indoor and sleeps in a dog cage. Chance was feed bones by previous owner twice a day. Chance has accidents daily but knows you use the bathroom outdoors. When left alone in the house Chance is well behaved. Chance goes for brisk walks on a leash once a day and goes to the bathroom on cement or a fire hydrant. Intake behavior: Chance allowed staff to take a picture of him but would not allow staff to handle him. STaff were was able to collar and scan for microchip with assistance of previous owner.

Chance walks with a low fearful body language on leash. He was shy but friendly during the assessment – low body, but trying to stay close. Chance was shy during handling with a fearful body language. He became very fearful while playing tag. Chance was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. Chance does not approach other dog, attempts to exit. Chance was surrender to us. According to his previous owner Chance is very fearful and aggressive around strangers. Chance plays very excitedly with his owner and has been around children ages 4 to 6. Chance has been around one cat and is very playful with that cat; Chance has never been around any other dogs. Chance will growl when anyone goes near his food, treats or toys when he is using them. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter. Chance is fearful and needs time to warm up to the handler because of his owner profile we also recommend a home without children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, shy body language , mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 2. Dog is fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is likely crouching, may have long lip or lip lick. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food. No interest. Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. No interest. Dog – dog 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog. Turns body to side in relation to other dog, or exits. Helper:A1038458
