04/10/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Chance previously lived in a household with two adults and a teenager and was said to get along well with other dogs and strangers. It was also noted that Chance is housebroken and rarely had accidents in the home. During SAFER Chance was sociable towards the assessor but did appear to be a bit uncomfortable when sudden movements were made around his head and neck area. He allowed the assessor to conduct all handling items without issue, but his body was a bit tense, and he was distracted during the tag interaction. Chance showed some concerning behavior during item; body became stiff and growled, when being pushed out of the food bowl. He was also stiff when taking the rawhide away and only showed minimal interest in the toys. Due to the behavior displayed during the resources portion of the assessment the Behavior Department feels, Chance would be best suited for an experienced adopter with no children that is able to safely manage and provide a behavior modification plan to address any potential guarding concerns that may occur in a home setting. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is down, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears back, lip licks. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (needed coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Food: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Rawhide: 3. Dog takes rawhide away, keeps a firm hold. His body is stiff. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Chance enjoyed rough and rowdy play today, responds very well to correction.
