03/19/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/19/15 19:52 Chamberlain was found by police after being tied to a fence at a park entrance on a very short chain leash for 2 days. He was shaking when they arrived but walked with them to their car. He walked with me into the shelter with his body a little low to the ground. We passed a larger male dog and his body and tail remained low. In Admissions, he walked around and sniffed the floor. His body was soft and his tail wagged slightly when I stooped down and pet him. He started dribbling urine while I scanned him and urinated afterwards. He lowered his head while I switched his collars and leashes and untangled him from his leash. After police left, he approached and sniffed me with soft body, becoming more relaxed, and wagging his tail as I pet him. He sniffed my head and gave my tiny licks. After a few minutes, I sat down and he wiggled his way into my lap with loose wiggly body, fast wagging tail, and open mouth. His butt sunk into my lap and he gave my big licks on my face as he leaned into me while I rubbed and patted his back. He rolled totally onto his back with an open mouth, closed eyes, and wagging tail while I pet his chest. He stayed close to me, sometimes lying down next to my feet. He didn’t pull on his leash. He shook/shivered in the hallway as we waited for vaccines. I held him during his vaccines and he was a little tense but didn’t struggle or show any indication of getting the injections at all. When he met other staff, he climbed into their laps and gave them kisses as well.
04/10/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: A big lap dog, a cuddle monster, a tail wagging kissy boy, that’s our Chamberlain. Found tied up by the police after two days, someone reported that Chamberlain nipped the finger of a ‘friend’. The person who was allegedly nipped is unknown, and the story is questionable. Nonetheless, Chamberlain had to be on hold here before becoming available for adoption. When the police brought him in he gave kisses to all the intake staff, climbed into any lap that would take him, was super friendly allowing all handling during the intake procedure, and all staff agreed on how sweet he is. I am adding my voice to that. He’s a DOLL! His coat is a gorgeous cocoa color, his eyes a soft amber, his tail never stops wagging, and as soon as I sat down to take some notes he was in my lap. His tail was wagging hard against my back (almost like getting a massage), and we were two happy campers huddling together against a sudden rainfall. He purrs with pleasure, so content in my lap. Good on the leash, responsive to his handler, Chamberlain has handled his ‘hold’ well and is now looking for his happily ever after. Back at the shelter I toweled him off as he stood quietly, tail wagging as I took care of him. Rocking his behavior assessment indicating he’ll be a good fit in just about any home, he’s hoping that home is waiting for him today. Another volunteer writes: This is one of the Happiest dogs I have ever walked at the shelter. Immediately snuggled up to me for some chin scratches while waiting for the elevator. On our walk he wagged his tail up, happy the whole time, looking up to everyone we passed as if to say “Hello Neighbor.” He is just a happy boy, play bowing to some strangers dogs while walking by. So Cute. A real sweet boy.

Chamberlain walks calmly on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. When off leash with other dogs, Chamberlain is sexually motivated causing him to be pushy with some females.
