A volunteer writes: In his cage, Ceasar can often be found sitting on the back of his bed, his back legs extended in front of him, and wearing the most contemplative face I have ever seen on a dog! His bottom lip pouts out just so, he has wrinkles for eyebrows, he stays motionless as he makes soft eye contact, and after a few moments moseys his way to the front – as if he needed to be sure I wasn’t just there to gawk at him! He looks, and just might be, wise beyond his years, but Ceasar is puppy perfection!! He is not only quiet in his cage, he also keeps it clean and is very quick to relieve himself outside. He pulls sometimes, but for the most part is a pleasure to walk on leash. He is content to explore the neighborhood, but really shines off leash. It’s impossible not to smile as he bounds from one end of the pen to the other. Ceasar is hands-down the master of play bows (and they are made even more adorable because he can’t wipe off that earnest face!). Whether he has a tennis ball in his mouth, is trying to engage me, or sees a passing dog, Ceasar is quick to put his butt in the air, splay his front legs forward, and then hold it as if modeling for a painter! He loves fetch and when there was still snow on the ground he frolicked with the ball, made Ceasar-angels, and even seemed to play with his own shadow! He loves to be pet, will prop his paws on my lap and even gives soft kisses. When it’s time to go back in, he naturally protests with a play bow, but is easily rounded up by asking him to “sit” (for which he’ll very nicely take a treat). I’m not normally one to fall for the youngsters, but Ceasar has stolen my heart, please check him out at Brooklyn ACC!

Owner Surrender Profile:
According to the owner the dog is very friendly. The dog was very easy to handle, easily approachable, tail wagging, jumping and licking hands.

SAFER – Experience No Child
The previous owner stated that the Ceaser is very friendly, and an admissions counselor noted that “Ceasar was very easy to handle, easily approachable, tail wagging, jumping and licking hands”. During SAFER he was excited but very interested in interacting with handler- jumped up, licked hands and face. He was a bit tense and lip licked during the “sensitivity” item, but he allowed the assessor to complete all handling items without issue. Ceasar was excitable but playful while playing tag with the assessor, but became over aroused, jumping and mouthing the assessor’s hands (applying mild pressure). He did not resist being handled while eating and was easy to handle when chewing on toys and rawhides. Although no concerns seen on SAFER, Ceasar did bite a young child, reason unknown, so the Behavior Department feels Ceasar would be best suited for an experienced home with no children.
Look: 1. Dog leans forward or jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted.
Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is low, body tense, mouth closed, lip long, ears back, lip licks.
Tag: 2. Dog assumes play position and joins the game, but becomes over aroused, jumps on assessor and mouths hands (mild pressure)
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Dog may lick hand.
Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back.
Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push him out.
Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy.
Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog smells, then turns away.
Dog-dog: When playing off leash with other dogs, Ceasar is polite when greeting dogs and he engages in soft play with all dogs.Group Behavior:
