06/13/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Big and handsome, Cayenne was relaxing in his kennel, but stood right up as I approached. A soft tan coat, a wagging tail and a smiling face all add up to a sweetheart of a dog who aced his behavior assessment indicating he’ll be a good fit in just about any home. A walk to the park gives him a chance to show off his housetraining skills, and although he pulls on the leash a bit is responsive to correction. Off leash in the back it was too hot to play ball so Cayenne explored the pen, as play group staff came over to say, “Isn’t he great?”. In group play he’s soft and easy, they call it ‘gentle and dainty play’, and he responds well to correction. Cayenne is camera shy so you’ll have to take my word for how handsome this big boy is. Cayenne is a hot spice, but there is nothing hot about this dog other than just how good he is. Mellow and easy, Cayenne is looking for his happily ever after to start today.
Another volunteer writes:
Cayenne’s got it all! Megawatt smile-check! Chunky body-check! Great safer and playgroup notes check! Ability to climb onto benches and snuggle into your lap- double check! If only I had longer arms, the selfies I could have taken today with Cayenne, rolling his little body into the bench then onto me so that he could cover my face with kisses. He never stops smiling with his long silly tongue dangling from the side of his mouth giving him a constant look of playfulness and mischief. Like me, Cayenne is not a fan of the heat and preferred our shady snuggles to more ambitious outdoor activities. He is looking for 2 and maybe even 4 legged snuggle buddies to add “forever family” to his list of “haves”.
06/11/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cayenne was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, low wag. He was a bit anxious and would whine at times but allowed the assessor to complete all handling with a soft, wiggly body. He was calm and relaxed when playing tag with assessor. He had minimal interest in food. Cayenne was easy to handle when chewing on toys and had minimal interest in rawhides. Cayenne was brought to the care center as a stray; upon intake he was very anxious and trying to get out of his crate. Throughout the assessment, Cayenne remained friendly toward the assessor with soft, wiggly body language but did show some anxiety by whining, but would calm a bit when being pet. The Behavior Department believes Cayenne can go to an average home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
