08/19/15 15:21 Basic Information Casey is a 6 year old poodle mix who was given to her owner as a gift 3 yrs. ago. She was surrendered because her owner was no longer able to take care of her due to time and her stressful behavior. She also has gingivitis. Socialization Around strangers she is fearful at first however warms up and is very relaxed, calm, and playful. She has been around adults and children ranging from 1 year to teens and is playful, relaxed and gentle. She is also gentle around other dogs but her behavior is unknown when around cats. No history of biting a human or being bitten by another animal. Behavior She is pad trained and soils outside, however due to stress she has been soiling areas of the house. There is no reaction when her bowl is touched or when treats, toys or objects are taken away she is friendly. For a New Family to Know Casey is friendly, yet shy and fearful around new people so a friendly home would be best for her. She eats human and wet Alpo pet food. Not crate trained however is house trained and well behaved when left alone. When it’s time to play a park is what she enjoys. Behavior During Intake She was shy and alil fearful because she was unfamiliar with her surroundings and didnt know counselors. Allowed us to photgraph her but didnt allow counselor to collar her so the owner did.

08/21/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Casey previously lived with 1 adult and has been around children ranging from 1 years old to teens. The owner stated she is playful, relaxed and gentle towards the children. The owner mention Casey is friendly but is shy and fearful around new people however she warms up and is very relaxed, calm and playful, she is also house train and well behaved when left alone. At intake Casey was shy and a little fearful because she was unfamiliar with her surroundings, she allowed limited handling. During SAFER Casey came into the assessment room calm, she wasn’t interested with interacting with the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Casey was unresponsive but not fearful during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Casey was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Casey has been showing fearful behavior. We cannot be certain if behavior may be suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. Please note that behavior may change when Casey is more comfortable and settled in a home environment. In addition, we recommend that introductions are done slowly, and Casey be given the opportunity to interact at her own pace, so the behavior department feels Casey can go to an experience adopter. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze body tense. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body tense and mouth closed. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (need coaxing to approach.) She is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1 & 2: 2. Dog quickly pulls back. Food: 1. Inconclusive dog is not eating. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest.
