09/19/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/19/15 18:52 Camden was found in the street. His finder approached him and he allowed him to pick him up and bring him here. Camden was tense but allowed us to pet, scan (-), leash, position for pictures, pick up, and put him into a kennel. He became stiff and stared at me with whale eyes when I started to collar him, so I didn’t finish collaring him. He didn’t vocalize or snap. He was sometimes reluctant to walk with us, so we carried him outside.
09/23/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Camden is a middle-aged Chihuahua with a twist. Yep, there is a little something about his looks that is not true to the breed. May be his size or his ears? His gait or posture? Camden is quite shy in his kennel but he is a good boy and comes forward slowly when I open his door while speaking softly. I pet him and pull him gently toward me. I scoop him up and off to the yard we go… Camden does nicely the stairs and walks well on the leash. His den is clean and he eliminates right away without marking as we enter the pen. He explores a lot, stops and makes those strange little curtsies…I pet him. He is quite timid but accepting of my advances. I think that a second get together will most likely break the ice between us. Camden is a cute little pooch dressed in a well groomed cream and cafe au lait coat. His eyes are dark, velvety and intense. He is definitively a Chi at heart, a delicate soul who needs a thoughtful approach and lots of love. Come and meet Camden at the Manhattan Care Center. A family to belong to and to love is Camden’s sole goal in life. Come, meet him soon and make him yours.
09/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Camden is fearful of the shelter environment he walks with a low and fearful body language. He was uncomfortable with handling he freezes and do not let the behavior team collar him for the assessment. We decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources Camden was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. He does not approach other dog, turns body to side. Camden has been showing fearful behavior and avoids interaction in the care center. We cannot be certain if behavior may be suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. Please note that behavior may change when Camden is more comfortable and settled in a home environment. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 5. Dog freezes Food 1: No interest. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog. Turns body to side in relation to other dog, or exits.
