07/06/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cama was very stiff and fearful when entering the assessment, he head flipped toward the handler when being collared. During the assessment, he remained stiff but would approach the assessor when coaxed. During tag, Cama became very uncomfortable during tag; he turned quickly toward the hand after the first pass and snapped at the assessor after the second pass. All other handling was then skipped due to safety. Cama did not have interest in the food or rawhide and only showed minimal interest in the toy. Cama was brought the care center as a stray; upon intake he remained in a carrier but appeared calm. Throughout the assessment Cama remained cautious and stiff. Due to his escalation on tag, attempting to snap at the assessor’s hand when reaching to tag him, the Behavior Department believes Cama would do best if placed with a New Hope partner that can work with Cama on his uncomfortable nature when being handled and allow him time to warm up to new people and environments at his own pace. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is stiff and fearful, his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 5. Dog first spins quickly toward the touch, then snaps at the assessor after second pass. Food: No interest Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog may smell and/or lick, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog. Turns body to side in relation to other dog, or exits.
