09/10/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cake came in as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake Cake was nervous and tense; she allowed all handling when approached slowly. During SAFER Cake came into the assessment room quiet and nervous, she was a shy towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted, during the first paw squeeze Cake mouth was close and became stiff and on the second attempt flank was applied and she didn’t respond. Cake was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment cake was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Cake is nervous and throughout the assessment and has a crouched body posture. The behavior department advises that future adopters should be able to provide positive experiences for Cake. In addition, we recommend that introductions are done slowly, and Cake be given the opportunity to interact at her own pace. The behavior department feels she can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is tense and fearful; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body tense, mouth closed. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 3. Dog closes mouth, becomes stiff. Flank squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Food: 1. Inconclusive dog is not eating. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs Cake, allows greeting and may sniff the other dog briefly in return. She becomes overwhelmed by multiple dogs attempting to interact.
