05/12/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Buzz Lightyr came to us as an owner surrender on 5/1/15. Upon intake it was reported that he had loose body language, and allowed all handling. Buzz lightyr did not allow the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items and tried to bite the assessor during the sensitivity portion of the assessment. He became highly over aroused during the tag test and is quick to use his mouth in play and has poor body awareness, resulting in him mouthing handlers with moderate pressure. Buzz lightyr bit over the food and rawhide items, and for that reason we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification to address this guarding behavior and can extensively counsel potential adopters before placement into a permanent home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, and open mouth. Tag: 4. Dog becomes highly over aroused, and mouths the assessor and leash strongly. He does not calm down easily and has stiff body language. Squeeze 1: 5. Dog tries to bite. Food: 5. Dog tries to bite. Toy 1: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Rawhide: 5. Dog attempts to bite. Dog-Dog: When off leash with other dogs, Buzz Lightyr is sexually motivated when interacting with the female helper dog, but has been seen engaging in rough and rowdy play with a female helper.
