11/21/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/21/15 09:18 Basic Information Bully is a 17month old brown brindle and white male pit-bull that came in as an owner surrender. Owner stated that he got him from a friend when he was 1 week old and has had him since. He can no longer keep Bully because his mother doesn’t want him in the house anymore. His last vet visit was in 2014; however, he will undergo a complete medical examination. Social Life & Personality Bully is relaxed, playful and respectful around children. Owner stated that there is a 2 year old child in the home that he often plays with. There also a cat in the home that Bully is relaxed, respectful and playful with as well. He has not interacted with other dogs. Bully is housetrained and is kept indoors only. He has a very high activity level and owner described him as playful, excitable and fearful. Behavior Issues Bully has been urinating and defecating in the house about 3 times a week. He displays no other signs of behavior issues. He isn’t bothered with having his food bowl touched while eating or having objects and treats taken away from him. He is afraid of baths, and becomes fearful and barks around strangers and visitors. Upon intake, Bully displayed signs of extreme nervousness; he barked continuously and would not allow his self to be handled. He had to be muzzled and was not collard or photographed. For a New Family to Know Bully understands commands in Spanish. For exercise, owner walks him on the leash at least 3 times a day. Bully does not play with any toys and is put in a crate when unfamiliar visitors come over. When owner is home, he tends to follow him around. When Bully is left home alone, he is well behaved. During storms/fireworks he becomes nervous. He eats both wet and dry food twice a day; once in the morning and once at night. He sleeps anywhere in the home.

11/24/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bully came to us as an owner surrender on 11/18/15. It was reported by the owner that Bully is relaxed, playful, and respectful around children and the cat that he lived with. It was also reported that Bully is fearful of strangers and visitors. Bully can be seen with very tense and stiff body language while growling inside of the kennel, and will attempt to bite the leash when trying to remove him from the kennel. Once out of the kennel Bully did become more relaxed and was able to be walked without any concerning behavior. When entering the behavior room Bully has very fearful and tense body language, and will bark and whine in frustration at random points. He did not allow the assessor to conduct the Look test and would constantly shoulder rub the assessor with tense body language. He was very hard to position for the sensitivity test and showed some concerning behavior of freezing when touched. Due to this behavior the assessment was stopped for safety reasons and as to not increase the stress levels of Bully. Bully growled over the toy test when attempting to take it from him with the assess-a-hand but did not bite. The behavior department believes that Bully would do best with a rescue that can follow up on these behaviors and provide any necessary positive behavior modification before placement into a new home. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 5. Dog freezes. Toy 1: 4. Dog growls.
