09/13/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/13/15 18:20HRS Upon removal from the Police Car, Bulli appeared fearful because he walked with his tail tucked and head lowered. Bulli remained with his head lowered and tail tucked after he was offered water and approached with treats and soft words. He was collared, scanned for a microchip (negative) and photographed without displaying any negative behavior.
09/26/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: As I was walking Bulli in the back yard, one of the behavior staff said to me, “He’s my favorite”. After spending time with him I can see why. Besides being a very handsome fellow, he’s a total snuggle boy, loving to give and get kisses and cuddle in close. Head in lap, or as much of him as he can fit, he buries his head in my chest and sighs. His tail is wagging as I croon to him – and have to laugh a bit at how hard he’s working to make himself fit. Although I’m told he’s a good ball player he wasn’t interested in playing, but instead was busy welcoming other dogs into the yard with a happy tail wag. He joined us with his housemate Chyna, and he’s looking for a cat free home. With a lovely tail wagging friendly energy, Bulli let me know that he has plenty of love inside to share. Who will be that lucky person?
09/23/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bulli came into our center on 9/13/2015 along with another large dog after they escaped from their yard and attacked a cat. He was nervous upon entering the center, head low, tail tucked, but allowed all handling. Bulli walked nicely on leash for his relief walk, no pulling. He was sociable and friendly during upon entering the SAFER assessment room. Bulli held gaze for three full seconds during Look item, very soft wiggly body, tail wagging. He stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, body soft, tail wagging, ears back and mouth closed. Bulli followed at the end of the leash during Tag game, body soft, approaching the assessor at end of game. He gently pulled his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. Bulli gulped Food with neutral body as assess-a-hand pushed his cheek out of the dish. He kept a firm grip on Toy with loose body, and took Rawhide away, body neutral. Bulli approached the helper dog at an appropriate pace, ears forward, tail at spine level. The Behavior Team feels Bulli would do best with an Experienced adopter that does not have young children, with older children having an in-depth interaction before considering adoption. Bulli would do best in a home without any cats. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is wagging with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1 / 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 3. Dog gulps food, begins to eat faster and with bigger bites, body neutral. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip, body loose. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold, body neutral. No growling or stiffness. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip neutral.
