05/22/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Meet and greet..Make friends…. Have fun..That’s what I am talking about….Buddy is so ready for his outing, all eyes on me, tail wagging and a bright smile splitting his face in two… He is quite a good looking dog, well groomed, healthy and the perfect weight. Buddy is all excited to exit his kennel and rushes to the yard where he eliminates ASAP. According to his former owner, Buddy is very much housetrained. He is very sociable and happy to meet people and dogs alike, even little ones…. True, he likes to jump and is enthusiastic but there is such a big heart and such good intentions behind each “hop”. Buddy , indeed plants his forelegs on my chest, demands caresses with such engaging eyes and kisses my face…I do not have the courage to tell him: off or down….I do not want to hurt his feelings… He is glad to meet other dogs through the fence and I was told that he was playful and well behaved in playgroups. Buddy is with us as his owner could not care for a pet anymore. She made sure to let us know that he was very affectionate, a born socialite with children, strangers and other dogs and was even tolerant of …cats. He is not known to have any handling issues or to suffer from separation anxiety. Buddy is energetic(although certainly not over the top), playful, affectionate and a true pleasure to spend time with. He aced his behavioral evaluation at the care center and even “works” as a helper dog. He is waiting at the Manhattan Care Center to start his life all over again with you as your forever best friend.

The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification.
