10/04/15 17:00 Basic information Buddy is a 10 year old male Chihuahua. Buddy was surrendered by the owner’s daughter because the owner can no longer care for buddy because she is an elderly women. The owner has had buddy since buddy was a puppy. Buddy has never had any injuries or has never had any health issues. Buddy Has been to the vet however, that was in 2006 for his shots. Socialization Buddy is a very shy and fearful dog. Buddy doesn’t like to be around people he isn’t comfortable with. When Buddy is around strangers he usually runs away and hides. Buddy does have experience around young children however, he doesn’t interact with them. When children is around Buddy hides. Buddy has had experience around dogs however; he doesn’t play with them he usually just stays to himself. Buddy has no experience around cats. Buddy has no pervious bite history. Behavior Buddy is overall a well-behaved dog. Buddy does destroy household items nor does he damage furniture. Buddy does get very scared around loud noises. Buddy does go to the bathroom indoors and outdoors. Buddy does tolerate getting groomed and getting his nails trimmed. Buddy doesn’t like his food bowl being touched while his eating. For a new family to know Buddy is best described as shy, fearful and playful. Buddy has a medium activity level. Buddy usually stays to himself when in the home. Buddy is partially house-trained. Buddy is mostly an indoor dog. Buddy eats both wet and dry foods. Buddy is well -behaved when left alone in the house, he usually just sleeps.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Buddy was difficult to remove from his kennel showing teeth, and lunges at the rope. He did not show any social behavior. Once he was out of the kennel Buddy was difficult to collar his muscles of his body and face was tense and rigid looking directly at the assessor. Due to the behavior demonstrated in the shelter we just decided to do a partial assessment on buddy. During the resources he was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. Buddy was surrendered by the owner’s daughter because the owner can no longer care for buddy because she is an elderly women. The owner has had buddy since buddy was a puppy. According to the owners daughter Buddy is a very shy and fearful dog. Buddy doesn’t like to be around people he isn’t comfortable with. When Buddy is around strangers he usually runs away and hides. Buddy does have experience around young children however, he doesn’t interact with them. When children are around Buddy he hides. Buddy has had experience around dogs however; he doesn’t play with them he usually just stays to himself”. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Food 1. No interest. Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. No interest.
