BASIC INFORMATION: Buddy is a 15 year old Border Collie mix. He has been with his owner for 14 years and was surrendered due to the owner’s health problems.
SOCIALIZATION: Buddy lived with adults, but did grow up with children in the family. He is tolerant of all handling from people of all ages. He typically ingnores kids now due to his old age, but allowd them to pet him still.
BEHAVIOR: Buddy is an inside dog with a low activity level. According to the owner, he isn’t bothered when you touch his food bowl while his is eating. He doesn’t have bones these days and no long plays with toys, so he does not guard these items as well. When he was younger, he enjoyed squeaky toys. When left unattended, Buddy is well behaved. He is used to being groomed by the groomer, but he is afraid of baths and tries to flee from the water. Buddy isn’t bothered when unfamiliar people approach him or his him, infact he is aloof about it according to the owner. He will hide under the kitchen table during storms or fireworks. He will urinate and defecate inide the home if he isn’t taken out. He can usually hold everything in for up to 6 hours.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: The owner stated that Buddy has lived with 2 other small breed dogs and with no issue. She also lived with a cat. Buddy did well witht the cat and never chansed her or solicited attention from her. Buddy can typically be found laying by the front door of the home.
BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE: Buddy paced back and forth at intake. He allowed all handling, but he was aloof and not attention seeking. Although when called he would come over. He ears were in a relaxed position. He was easy to scan and collar, but hard to photograp because of his constant movement.
