A shelter staff member writes:
Buddy is one dog you want to have loyally trotting by your side. He has shown that he does not like being in the kennel from our observation, putting on quite a little show behind the kennel door, but just take him out and watch this boy transform! He is the softest boy. He was released to us as an owner surrender and his previous owner mentioned that he does well with both strangers and children. Looks like Buddy is just looking for a home again where he can be the most loved Dachshund around! Can you give that back to him? If so come to MACC today and meet him!

BEHAVIOR 4/07:
Buddy was a big difficult to remove from his kennel with his body stiff, growling and lunging at the handler. Once he was out he walks calmly on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Buddy was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Buddy was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. Buddy was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful.
Buddy was surrender to us. According to his previous owner he get along with children and strangers. The owner mentioned that he is very playful around other dogs. Buddy did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior
