08/02/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
Basic information Aproximately 2 yo neutered male dog was found in an alley on amethyst st in the Bronx. The man that found the dog tried taking Bucky home, but Bucky did not get along with his dog. He decided the shelter was the best option and had the police bring him to us for care. Behavior during intake Shy and defensive while in crate. Once leashed and out of confinment exhibited a loose body and soft eyes. enjoyed petting from ACO and officers.
08/08/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: I love that the inside of one of Bucky’s ear is black, and the inside of the other has just a couple of black dots. It looks like someone ran out of black when Bucky was created!! He’s a handsome fellow, compact and muscular dressed in an immaculate white coat with black accents. His black nose and gorgeous amber eyes look up at me as we take some pictures, and he’s so serious! His leash manners are excellent and he checks up at me often as we walk. Ignoring other dogs we pass, both big and small, he’s all about the person on the other end of the leash as we navigate the busy sidewalk. He takes treats gently and sits with a bit of prompting for another treat. He’s a bit shy and doesn’t give himself over to cuddling, but accepts my petting with a softly wagging tail. Low key and calm, Bucky started wagging his tail happily at a dog in another pen. Bucky did well on his behavior assessment, but showed a potential for food guarding and is therefore only adoptable via a rescue group who can help an adopter manage this behavior if it exists in a home. He’s a sweetheart of a little guy and I’m looking forward to the day he breaks into a big smile because he knows he’s going home!
08/06/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bucky was a bit difficult to remove from his kennel with a fearful body language snapping at the leash. Bucky walks with a low body language. He was fearful and attempted to get away from the handler during some items of the assessment. Bucky was shy and nervous during handling, with fearful body language. He became very fearful while playing tag. Bucky was uncomfortable during the paw items flipping his head and moving away with a bit stiff body language we decided to do the flank and Bucky was a bit stiff and he moved away from the assessor. Bucky growled and bit the assess-a-hand during the food bowl test. He was not interested in toys or rawhide Bucky approaches the helper dog with his body not stiff, tail at spine level, lip long.
