10/07/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/07/15 16:16 Bubbles A1054078 was left alone in the dog run in pelham bay park in the bronx. She was alone for over an hour and the owners never came back for her. The park rangers brought her into BXACC. Behavior during intake Bubbles was very shy in the crate. The park rangers described her as friendly. She allowed me to take her out of the crate and leash her up. I was able to scan her (-) and collar her. She tolerated all petting.
10/14/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Bubbles is the best of all worlds, a stunning supermodel with a soft heart and the perfect amount of playful good humor, she has nothing but gentleness and love to give to every man, woman, child and dog she encounters. Though she pulls strongly on leash at first, the second I harness her up, this good girl settles into a nice, easy pace and greets each passing dog whether large or small, friendly or not, with the best possible manners. True to her name, Bubbles has a ‘light touch’ when it comes to socializing, and though she can sometimes be a little timid, with patience and plenty of opportunities to get out in the world she is going to blossom in no time. And don’t think just because she’s sweet and shy Bubbles doesn’t enjoy letting her inner puppy out to play, she has her athletic side too, and will happily join in a game of chase with her person or elegantly trot after a tennis ball on those beautiful long legs of hers. She comes when called, takes treats incredibly gently from my hand and seems to be quite house trained too, and her behavior assessment is filled with great ‘scores’ on everything from handling to resource sharing. Wherever Bubbles floated in from, it’s clear she was very well cared for by her previous owners and will make a wonderful, affectionate and loyal companion for the lucky new family who welcomes her home.
10/10/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bubbles walks calmly on leash. She was shy but friendly during the assessment – low body, but trying to stay close. Bubbles was shy during handling with a fearful body language. She had a low body position during the tag test, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. Bubbles was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter. Bubbles is somewhat fearful and needs time to warm up to the handler. We cannot be certain if behavior may be suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. Please note that behavior may change when Bubbles is more comfortable and settled in a home environment. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is stiff and fearful; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, shy body language , mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food 1. No interest. Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. No interest. When off leash with other dogs, Bubbles allows greeting, but is a bit stiff and uncomfortable.
