10/25/15 18:04 Basic Information: Brooks is a 12 year old white and brown male Jack Russell terrier. He was surrendered by his owner due to no longer having time to care for him. He is described as mellow and confident. Personality: Brooks has been around two children ages 7 and 9, he is relaxed and tolerant around them. He allows them to pet him and rub his belly. Around other larger dogs he barks and will lunge and attempt to get off leash. Around smaller dogs and cats he is tolerant and respectful. He is partially housetrained and often has accidents indoors. he has been kept mostly indoors and is described as havng a medium activity level. Behavior: Brooks often urinates and defecates indoors about 3-4 times a day. he isnt bothered when his food is touched while eating or when a toy or treat is taken away. He is fearful of baths but once in the tub will allow his owner to bath him. He enjoys being held and being brushed. He struggles when his nails are trimmed. he is friendly towards strangers and will usually have a loose body and tail wagging. For a new family to know: Brooks is used to slow leahed walks 1-2 a day. He enjoys stuffed and squeaky toys and playing tug. He usually goes to the bathroom on grass or near a pole or tree. When home he tends to be in a favorite spot. During thunderstorms he will find a dark cornerand hide. He eats dry food, Kibbles and Bits brand and enjoys any treat. He usually sleeps in his own bed. Upon intake Brooks was tense had a firm body, he allowed all handling, collaring scanning and photograph.

Helper dog: A1055733 Brooks previously lived with 1 adult and has been around two children ages 7 and 9. The owner stated Brooks is relaxed and tolerant around them, he allows them to pet him and rub his belly. It was reported by the owner when Brooks is around larger dogs he barks and will lunge and attempt to get off leash, but around smaller dogs and cats he is tolerant and respectful. The owner mentioned Brooks is partially housetrained and often has accidents indoors and he has a medium activity level. At intake it was reported Brooks was tense with firm body posture, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Brooks came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was friendly towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Brooks was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Brooks was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Brooks appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body soft. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog licks, then turns away. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip neutral.
