05/08/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Brooklyn came to the care center as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home setting are unknown. At intake it was noted that Brooklyn was receptive to introduction and loose for all handling. He was interested in meeting new people, and liked to stand up for introductions. It was also noted that Brooklyn walked well on leash and is responsive to commands (he knows sit) but can be very insistent when not at rest. During SAFER Brooklyn was sociable, but was very excitable and gently mouthed the assessor hands when interacting. He was difficult to position for some of the handling, but when relaxed he allowed the assessor to conduct most handling without issue. Brooklyn was playful during the tag interaction but was easily over aroused and jumped on the assessor during play. Brooklyn did show some concerns during the food and rawhide items; stiffening and growling, but he was easy to handle when engaged with the toys. Brooklyn is easily excitable, but he is very responsive to corrections. He did show some potential guarding behaviors and would be best suited for an experienced adopter with no children, who is able to provide behavior modification work, should these behaviors occur in a home setting. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog is active and focused on the Assessor and all other stimuli available. His body is soft, and he is panting, and he displays high movement between attempts. Tag: 2. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Dog is easily over aroused. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Dog may lick hand Squeeze 2:1. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Food: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 4. Dog growls. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Brooklyn is interested in engaging in play and explores the yard with a loose body. He is tolerant when corrected and is slightly sexually motivated
