09/17/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bolo previously lived with 2 adults and been around the owner grand-children ages 2 and 9 years old. The owner stated Bolo is playful and relaxed towards everyone in the household. The owner did mention he keeps Bolo around children to a certain extent because he plays very rough and doesn’t know his own strength. It was reported by the owner Bolo will try to escape off the leash and rolls/flip on the ground. It was stated by the owner Bolo will bark and lunge at cats only, he has a very high activity level and will destroy household items when home alone. The owner describes Bolo as pushy and excitable; he also attacked two dogs that were pit-bulls that lived upstairs from him the owner reported. At intake Bolo was whining, anxious and chewing on the rope, he walked into the care center with a muzzle on due to him being reactive towards other dogs, he did allowed all handling. During SAFER Bolo came into the assessment room excitable and chewing on the rope. Not all handling items were able to be conducted as Bolo would consistently chew on the rope and appears to be rope reactive. During the resource portion of the assessment on toy and rawhide items he bit the assess-a-hand and on food item he allowed the handler to push his face out of the food bowl with no issue. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy 1: 5. Dog attempts to bite. Rawhide: 5. Dog attempts to bite.
