11/28/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Hail, hail the gang’s all here! Three dogs, a cat and two teenagers equals one full and happy house but this latest reunion is no cause for celebration after an eviction left Blue and his entire four-legged family cooling their heels at the Care Center instead of chilling on the couch at home. This handsome hunk could not be more different from his children Precious (A1058824) and Bandito (A1058825) and where they are timid and tender he is outgoing and full of fun, a real party boy who loves to meet new people and take on new adventures. He’s a good leash walker and seems to be quite house trained, sits on command and gives wonderful hugs and kisses, but my favorite thing about Blue is his total devotion to other dogs…even if it means I’m pretty much ignored once he sees them! Tail wags and happy vocalizing are Blue’s way of saying hello and we’re told he’s playfully relaxed with fellow pups as well as kids of all ages and even his kitty sister, Mia (A1058826), though his size and enthusiasm can be a bit much for smaller friends. Blue adores a good body massage and will sit quietly by my side to receive one but he’s always ready to go go go and a trip to the park is more his style, he loves snuffling through the leaves and greeting everyone we pass with a big smile. A proven family dog with nothing but great recommendations, Blue would make a wonderful addition to any active home and no matter what the size, shape or species of your pack, he’ll soon snuggle his way into all your hearts.
11/30/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Blue came into our center as an owner surrender along with 3 large dogs and a cat. It is reported he lived with 2 teenagers and has also spent time with young children, relaxed and playful with them. During intake, Blue had a loose, wiggly body and wagging tail, allowing all handling. He pulled hard on leash for his relief walk. Blue allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, body wiggly, fast wag. He leaned into assessor during Sensitivity item, fast wagging tail. Blue followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, soft body, jumping up a bit hard at end of game. He quickly pulled his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. Blue playfully engaged with Toy, keeping a firm grip with loose, wiggly body. When off leash with other dogs, Blue rushes into the pen and immediately attempts to mount. He becomes frustrated when he is unable to mount, and initially stiffens and growls in response to correction from the helper dog. After initial greeting, Blue slows down and briefly bows and solicits with ultimate goal to mount. The Behavior Team feels Blue would do best with an Experienced adopter that does not have very young children. He may benefit from obedience classes to learn leash manners and not to jump up. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth, fast wag. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, jumps up a bit hard at the end of game. Squeeze 1 / 2:2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Blue rushes into the pen and immediately attempts to mount. He becomes frustrated when he is unable to mount, and initially stiffens and growls in response to correction from the helper dog. After initial greeting, Blue slows down and briefly bows and solicits with ultimate goal to mount.

He becomes frustrated when he is unable to mount, and intially stiffens and growls in response to correction from the helper dog. After intitial greeting, Blue slows down and briefly bows and solicits with ultimate goal to mount.
