07/06/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/06/15 12:05 Basic Information: Blue is a 3yr old male pitbull that has no past or current medical issues according to the owner. Social Life & Personality: Blue comes from a home with children and interacted with them in a gentle playful manner. He also lived with to cats and interacted with them in the same manner. Blue has been around other dogs and interacted with them in a some what rough manner due to his size but never aggressive like. He has always been playful when interacting with another dog. Blue is an indoor only dog that may have an accident once or twice aweek and still may need to be house trained. Blue is described to be playful, friendly, and affectionate with a high activity level. Behavior Issues: According to the owner Blue doesn’t have any guarding issues and this applies to food, treats, and toys. These items can be given and taken away with no issues. Blues takes well to recieving a bath and due to his size it can be a bit of a struggle at times. The owner isn’t sure how he will respond to having his nails trimmed due to never attempting to do so. However the owner did explain that you can touch his paws with no issue. He enjoys having his coat brushed and takes well to holds/retrains. For a New Family to Know: Blues knows quite a few commands like sit, down, stay, give paw, and give other paw. For daily exercise blue went for slow walks on a leash and may even be let out into the yard for a bit. Blue enjoys all sorts of dog toys and will play with just about anyrthing according to the owner. Blue has never been crated and the owner isn’t sure how he would respond to being put in one. When in the home blue is the type to follow you around seeking attention. When left alone in the home Blue is well behaved minus the few accidents (Potty Issues) every so often he may have. When left alone in the yard Blue is well behaved. In the event that blue gets off his leash he is the type to remain by your side and if he wanders off he will return if you call out his name. Blue was brought up eating dry food and the brand the owner gave was Pedigree.

07/15/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Blue is an absolutely stunning dog, he has rock star looks…. but it doesn’t end there. He has definitely had some training as he walks right beside me on our walk, not an ounce of pulling!!!!. He can sit, give high five, give both paws, and then lay down and he is so proud to show anyone what he knows. What an exceptional dog, bright and oh so handsome!!! Hurry down to SIACC and meet Blue, your bound to fall for him just like I did.

07/07/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Blue came to our center as an owner surrender on 7/5/2015. Owner reports Blue has lived with children and cats, getting along well, playing gently. It is also reported he has always been playful when interacting with other dogs, usually rough and rowdy, exuberant play. He is described to be playful, friendly, and affectionate with a high activity level. Blue was social and friendly upon intake and allowed all handling. He pulled very hard on leash for his relief walk. Blue was focused on other stimuli in the SAFER assessment area, difficult to position. Once positioned, he allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, body soft. Blue accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, focused on pulling away and sniffing, soft body. He followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, body soft, settling easily at end of game. Blue did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. He had no interest in Food or Toy, but this may just be due to the environment as owner reports he will play with just about anything. Blue had minimal interest in Rawhide, sniffing/licking and then turning away. Blue approached helper dog a bit quickly, tail well above spine level, ears forward, appearing social and eager to play. Blue is a very strong dog who will require daily mental and physical stimulation to positively direct his high energy. This could be in the forms of daily walks, runs, exercise, play, as well as durable toys such as Kongs and Nylabones. Due to his strength, the Behavior Team feels he will do best with an Experienced adopter. He may also benefit from obedience classes to work on leash manners and focus, as well as crate training as owner reports occasional housebreaking accident. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, body soft. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog is active and focused on other stimuli available. His body is soft, sniffing. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Food: Inconclusive, dog is not eating. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog smells/licks, then turns away. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches the helper dog, body soft, tail well above spine level, ears forward.

07/08/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
