Owner Surrender Profile
Basic Information:
Blondie is a 9 year old poodle mix that has lived with the family since she was a young puppy. Blondie was diagnosed with pyometra and the owner was unable afford treatment.
Socialization:
Blondie has interacted with children ages 8 and 10. She has also interacted with a four year old. Blondie will tolerate petting from small kids, provided they are quiet and calm. She will bark as children who are very loud and energetic. Blondie will interact with dogs of all sizes, but is very selective of which dog she chooses to interact with. She will avoid dogs that she is not interested in meeting. Blondie has never lived or interacted with a cat, but owner states that she does run away from stray cats outside. Owner states that she is very selective of strangers, and will bark at people she wishes to not interact with.
Behavior:
Blondie is very housebroken and does not have accidents outside. She is well behaved when left in the home and does not engage in destructive chewing. Owner has never attempted to touch her food bowl or treats while she is eating. She states that Blondie will give you a toy, but will freeze and growl if you try to take items that she finds on the ground during walks out of her mouth. Blondie will hide from baths, but once you get her inside the tub she will sit and tolerate the bath. Owner never trimmed her nails. Blondie will bark and lunge at wheels when on a walk (bikes, skateboards, etc). She has never bit another animal or person.
For a New Family to know:
Blondie does not know any commands, but will follow her owner off leash around the neighborhood and will sometimes come when called. She enjoys playing with squeaky toys and balls. She is used to walks around the neighborhood as exercise and will go potty on both cement and grass. She was free fed dry dog food (beneful) but also fed table food. Her favorite foods are chicken prepared any way and bacon.
Behavior During intake:
Blondie was tense body at first, but allowed counselor to pet, collar and take photograph. She also allowed the counselor to pick her up and place her on a table and back on the ground.
