03/29/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO

04/01/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Named for the Super Hero in the DC Comic Books, our Black Canary is a super hero in her own right. Stunningly gorgeous in a dark brindle coat, her soft eyes look into mine as we meet. Easily leashed we step outside where BC (for short) goes potty immediately and off we go to the park. Her leash manners are good, and while she pulls slightly from time to time it’s all for the simple enjoyment of being out on a chilly spring morning. Her tail wags at other dogs we meet, and as she poses for pictures she does that head tilt thing that melts me. Showing off her sit, she takes her reward treats gently. Off leash in the back yard we play a great game of fetch, BC bringing the ball back every time, tail wagging and eyes sparkling with joy of the game. In group play BC was shy at first and then opened up to play. Calm, easy, gorgeous, affectionate, softly playful, and sweet, BC is ready to be the Super Hero of your story. She was definitely the Super Hero of my day. Make it easy for her, meet her and bring her home today.

04/01/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Black Canary pulls a bit on the leash. She was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up, mouthy. Black Canary was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Black Canary did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. She took the toy and rawhide away but had soft body language. Black Canary is an active and mouthy (moderate) dog, she need a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. The behavior department feels that she can go to an experience home. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. Her body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) She is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food 2. Dog follows the dish with her tail down, body likely a bit stiff. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place his body between you and the rawhide. Dog-dog: With other dogs off-leash, Black Canary approaches the other dogs but was a bit nervous
