I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 06/18/2015 from NY 11223, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

06/18/15 20:16 Billy Willy is a white an black American Pit Bull Terrier mix that was found as stray. The finder took him home for the night. At intake, Willy maintained a loose and wiggly body. He allowed all handling and was easy to collar and scan.

Billy Willy came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. During SAFER Billy Willy came into the assessment room with high energy and mouth open, he allowed all handling to be conducted. During the resources portion of the assessment Billy Willy displayed some concerns, on food item he bit the assess-a-hand when applying pressure to his cheek, toy and rawhide item he had stiff body language when taking it away from the assessor. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue that can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Dog licks hand. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Food: 5. Dog tries to bite. Toy 1: 3. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is stiff. Rawhide: 3. Dog takes rawhide away, keeps a firm hold. His body is stiff. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Billy Willy is social and enjoys chase play. He is sexually motivated.
