Billy allowed to be scanned (negative), collared, pictured but struggled when being placed in the dog kennel.

A volunteer writes: I didn’t get a chance to meet Billy until now and boy am I disappointed I hadn’t met him earlier. What a great dog! He’s a gorgeous boy with a block head in a shiny black coat with a sexy white stripe on his nose, his tail never stops wagging and he’s fun and friendly. Likely housetrained he went potty as soon as we were out the door and loved being off leash to explore our pen. His lively personality is all about having fun, responding to his person and playing with other dogs. In group he’s playful, tolerant, solicits play and is a “gentle and dainty” player. I watched him greet other dogs through the gate and his tail wags at all, wanting to join whatever dog was on the other side. Joining me on the bench for a quick kiss, he jumps down after a quick hug to explore some more and greet other dogs. Billy takes treats gently but spit it out equally gently when not to his liking. Handsome, fun, spirited and respectful, Billy is looking for an experienced person or family with whom to spend the rest of his life. Someone is going to be soooooooooooooo lucky. Is it you?
09/16/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Billy pulls hard on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. He was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. Billy was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Billy freezes with a very stiff body language, and snap at the assessor hand. He was not interested in toys but took the rawhide away with a soft body language. Billy appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for her energy. He shows a bit of concern during the food bowl test. Billy may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address his food guarding behavior. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter without children. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 4. Dog freezes and snap Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the rawhide. When off leash with other dogs, Billy greets politely and engages in brief bouts of running play when solicited.
