07/11/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bernise came to us as a stray on 7/8/15. Upon intake it was reported that Bernise allowed all handling, and showed no aggressive behaviors. She allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items, and just became a bit uncomfortable during the squeeze test but did not escalate. She did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. Bernise only displayed minimal interest in the toy or rawhide items on this portion of the assessment. When interacting with another dog on leash Bernise was confident but relaxed. The behavior department believes that Bernise can go to a home with an average amount of dog experience. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for a portion of the assessment item. Tag: Not conducted due to medical condition. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 2. Do quickly pulls back her paw, body a bit tense. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against her cheek. Toy: 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells, licks and mouths, then walks away. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells, licks and mouths, then walks away. Dog – dog 2. Dog approaches the helper dog, body soft, ears forward and confident.
