05/05/15 20:09 Basic information Bella is a 5 year old black and white female pitbull. Bella has been with her family since she was a puppy. She is being surrendered due to tenant issues. Social life and personality Bella lived with 2 adults, 2 teens and 2 toddlers as well as another pitbull. Owners report that Bella is extremely tolerant of children and allows all playing by toddlers including pulling of ears and tail. Bella is very close to the other pitbull in the house but they each will guard their food from each other and should be fed with a good amount of space between each other. Bella has not been exposed to dogs outside the house or cats. Bella will eliminate inside the house on the wee wee pads. Bella spends most of her time indoors with the family. Behavior Bella does not guard her food, toys or treats from people. She is loose for handling and enjoys a bath but has never had her nails trimmed. When unfamiliar people approach the house she will alert the family. For a new family to know Bella does not know commands. Her favorit toys are pillows which she will tear up but does not swallow the material. When the family is home she likes to be where they are. At home alone owners reports she can get into trouble of a destructive nature. Bella enjoys dry food. Upon intake Bella was receptive to introduction and loose for all handling. Counselor was able to scan for microchip (negative) collar and photograph. Bella was receptive to petting and would easily settle down. She walked well on leash and was responsive to guidance.
05/21/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: What’s black and white and as sweet as can be? Bella! Her former owners report that she previously lived with two toddlers and was extremely tolerant of them, even if they pulled her ears or tail. She got along very well with the other dog she lived with and has been polite and respectful in doggie playgroup at the shelter. Sometimes she seems to have a sadness about her, but she seems very comforted by human company. She walks beautifully on leash and will rest her head on my knee when I sit down to pet her. In fact, she is so mild mannered she has frequently been used to train volunteer applicants (all of which are immediately smitten!). Upon returning her to her cage, Bella props her paws up on the door, softly wags her tail, licks my hand, and curls up on her bed. A gal this good only comes along once in a while, please come see for yourself what makes Bella so special!
