I am a spayed female tan and white cocker span mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR 8 MONTHS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 05/06/2015 from NY 10029, owner surrender reason stated was BITEPEOPLE.

05/06/15 17:44 NAME Belarus REASON FOR SURRENDER Due to behavior owner could no longer keep Belarus. She has bitten her owner’s several times over the last 2 months. RELATIONSHIP Belarus was given to her owners by someone in their neighborhood about 9 months ago. She is currently about 1 year and 8 months. She scanned positive for a microchip. PEOPLE She lives in a home with 2 adults. She has not interacted with children. She usually barks at strangers who approach her house and is fearful of strangers who approach her family. She has bitten someone within the last 10 days and the bite did break skin. OTHER ANIMALS She has not lived with or interacted with any other animals. PERSONALITY She is a moderately active mostly indoor dog who has been described as playful, affectionate, pushy, shy, fearful, excitable, and anxious. Owner states that she loves being petted and that she give kisses. She isn’t bothered if you touch her food bowl while she is eating, if you move her off the furniture, or during storms. She is friendly if you take a toy away, during baths, and when you brush her. She likes to play if you disturb her while she is sleeping. She likes to follow her family around when they are home. She loves playing with squeaky toys and socks and her favorite games are fetch and tug. Owner states that she doesn’t seem to like dog food and that she usually only eats prepared meals. She usually sleeps on her bed. TRAINING She is house-trained goes to the bathroom outside or on training pads. It should be noted that she is only taken for slow walks about once daily. She knows sit and lay down. She usually whines when left home alone and is never left alone in the yard. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE She seemed nervous during the intake. She had a stiff body and wide eyes. She kept trying to hide under the chairs and under the desk. She did snap at the scanner, but showed no other signs of aggression.

Belarus was difficult to remove from her kennel grabbing at the leash. Once she walks calmly on leash. She was uncomfortable with handling, she freeze during the look item with her tail held low and her ears flattened back on her skull. She might cower close to the ground. For safety reason we decided to skip the handling part and move to the resources. Belarus was not interested in food, toy or rawhide. She was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful. Belarus was surrender to us. According to her previous owner she lives in a home with 2 adults. She has not interacted with children. She usually barks at strangers who approach her house and is fearful of strangers who approach her family. She isn’t bothered if you touch her food bowl while she is eating”. According to staff member she seemed nervous during the intake. She had a stiff body and wide eyes. She kept trying to hide under the chairs and under the desk”. The behavior department feels that she would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
