I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 08/19/2015 from NY 11422, owner surrender reason stated was ABANDON.

08/19/15 13:09 Intake Behavior: Beema maintained a very loose body and wagging tail throughout the intake. He solicited attention by jumping on people that passed by. He allowed to be collared. When scanned he ducked his head and retreated some but when talked to and pet, Beema warmed up to allow the counselor to scan him. He did not show any stress or aggressive behaviors.

08/21/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Beema came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake Beema maintain a loose body posture with his tail wagging, he solicited attention and allowed all handling. During SAFER Beema came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Beema was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Beema was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Beema appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog might jump on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog gently places his open mouth over the Assessor’s hand without applying pressure. Squeeze 2: 2. Dog gently places his open mouth over the Assessor’s hand without applying pressure. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body soft. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish rawhide to you. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs Beema is social and playful. He engages in rough play with both males and females and will offer correction for mounting.
