Basic info Beauty A1056766 is A 1 yr.old white Shih Tzu who was surrendered because of behavioral issues in the home. She was with her new Family for 3 weeks whom didn’t have the time to work with Beauty and her behavior due to personal problems. Her owner Stressed how if she had the time for Beauty she would keep her, as she saw Beauty was becoming slightly more sociable. Socialization Beauty was very shy and fearful of strangers and loud noises Walking with a low stiff body, tucked tail and ears always pushed back. Beauty did live with one child age 11 who was able to pet and collar Beauty. Beauty was fond of the little girl and would lie next to her at times. Behavior When left alone in the home Beauty would destroy furniture and use the bathroom indoors. Loud noises terrify Beauty causing her to hide anywhere possible. Beauty would retreat when approached while eating and leave her food bowl or toy. Beauty was groomed which did require some patience as the noise of the clippers startled her. For a family to know Beauty is described as fearful by her former family and would approach you after some time has passed. She was mostly kept indoors and was never designated a potty area. When left alone she would destroy furniture but would be extremely happy with wagging tail when the young owner came home from school. she does understand some commands such as Sit and stay. During intake During intake Beauty did not allow to be leashed and would snap at the rope. Once she was put on the leash she struggled for a bit and continued to walk with a stiff low body and tail tucked. She was scanned (-)while leashed, She sat for a photograph but was unable to be collared.

Beauty is reported to show destructive behavior in the home, such as (furniture). We are unaware of what, if any, attempts were made to remedy this behavior but we suggest to future adopters that Beauty will need to be provided with physical and mental stimulation and with a variety of appropriate and engaging chew toys so Beauty can engage in necessary chewing behavior without damage to human objects.
