A volunteer writes: I met BT when he was first brought in by the police after being found as a stray. Handsome, anxious and happy to make friends when he first came in, I gave him some treats at the time and he was enthusiastic in his gratitude. He’s been with us a couple of days now, and I was looking forward to seeing him again. BT has a big boisterous personality, he loves people and enjoys a good butt scratch and a belly rub. He sits for a treat, and like everything else he does, takes a reward treat enthusiastically. He loves playing with a ball and is able to amuse himself batting it around, lying down with it in his mouth, and even rolling over for a belly rub with the ball still in his mouth. He pulls on the leash and will need some leash training, and also needs to learn not to jump in his excitement at just about everything. BT has some healing scars on his back, perhaps the result of some sort of burn, and because of them he’s not being put into group so as not to possibly hurt the wounds as they are healing. It was hot and BT tires easily and was happy to lie down in the pen and hang out with his ball enjoying a belly rub. His big personality needs an experienced adopter with an equally big personality as he’s a fabulously exuberant and friendly dog. He needs to build up some stamina, or perhaps just really doesn’t do well in the heat (who does?). He’s hoping to meet his soul mate and live happily ever after, playing with a ball, getting a belly rub and snuggling with his new best friend.

Bark Twain was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. He was overexcited during handling, jumping up, and was hard to position, but showed no aggression. Bark Twain was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He was a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language.
