05/23/15 10:02 Basic Information: Autumn is a 1 year and 6 month old Pit-bull mix born on 11/23/13. Autumn is not spayed and had one round of shots but not up to date on vaccinations. Owner stated Autumn is healthy and has no health issues. Owner had to surrender Autumn because she is too big. Social Life and Personality: Autumn lived with two adults and two children ages 9 and 14 years old. Owner stated Autumn is playful towards the children in the household. Autumn is relaxed, respectful and tolerant towards everyone in the household. Owner stated Autumn is playful towards others dogs he seen him interact with. Autumn saw a cat once and she was more curious. Owner stated Autumn barks at bird and squirrels. Autumn is indoors only and only go outside in the yard to use the bathroom. Autumn activity level is very high; owner stated she is playful, excitable, affectionate, and friendly. Behavior Issues: Autumn never bite or scratched anyone to owner’s knowledge. Autumn is hard to control on a leash because she hardly goes for walks. Autumn is friendly when owner touch her food bowl or take toys or treats away from her mouth. Autumn takes baths every 2-3 weeks and likes being brushed. If unfamiliar people approach the house or family member she will growl and bark. Especially when people knock on the door she isn’t aware of. For a New Family to Know: Autumn knows commands such as sit, lay down, give paw (with the children). Autumn only goes out in the yard to use the bath with a pet door. She is well behaved when left in yard alone. Autumn likes to play with toys like balls and rubber bones owner stated. Autumn has never been crate-trained. Autumn likes to follow owner around the house and doesn’t have a favorite spot in the house. Owner stated Autumn is well behaved when home alone and doesn’t destroy household items. Autumn eats dry food called Purina Beneful once a day. Her favorite treats are called Milk bones. Autumn pet bed is located in the living. Owner stated he likes everything about Autumn. Intake Behavior: Upon intake Autumn was hyper, jumping, and hard to control. She scanned negative a microchip and allowed all handling.

Autumn previously lived with adults and two children ages 9 and 14 years old. According to the owner Autumn was said to be playful, relaxed, respectful and tolerant towards everyone in the household. It was also stated that Autumn was playful towards others dogs she has interacted with, and will bark at birds and squirrels. Autumn was reported to have activity level is very high, and at times can be difficult to control when on leash. She was also reported to be friendly when the owner touches her food bowl when eating and when taking toys or treats away from her mouth. Autumn was also said to be housebroken, and well behaved when left home alone. At intake it was noted that Autumn was very sociable, but was very excitable and difficult to control. During SAFER Autumn was occasionally distracted by her surroundings, but was sociable and receptive to attention. She maintained a relaxed body posture during all SAFER handling items as well as the tag interaction, and she was not interested in any of the resource items. Autumn appears so be very sociable and did not show any behavioral concerns at the time of the assessment, so the department feels Autumn can be suitable for an “Average” experienced adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food: Inconclusive, dog is not eating. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Autumn shows some interest in play but solicits for play with a stiff body and sporadic movements. She offers sharp vocalizations when apparently soliciting.
05/26/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION

When off leash with other dogs, Autumn is polite at the gate but appears anxious and excited. She is tolerant when greeted but is anxious while walking in the yard. 5/25 Update Autumn solicits for play with explosive sporadic movements and is interested in engaging with a social male. With another play, she solicits for play with smoother movements and offers play bows. 5/26 Update Autumn continues to show some interest in play but solicits for play with a stiff body and sporadic movements. She offers sharp vocalizations when apparently soliciting. 5/27 Update Autumn engages in good play with a male. She is less vocal during play and offers play bows. She engages in running play. 5/29 update: Autumn greets a male at the gate with a stiff body, flagging tail, barking and growling. She is then introduced to a calmer dog but stil shows the same body posture; she is muzzled as a result for this interaction. She enters the yard and begins to jump on the dogs back and continues to attempt to mount. When the other dog attempts to get away Autumn begins to growl and is more assertive in her attempts to mount. She does respond to human correction.
