A volunteer writes: Athena, the daughter of Zeus, and the Goddess of reason, arts and literature…. Our Athena, a Goddess in her own way, gorgeously groomed, the perfect weight for her size joins us with outstanding owner surrender notes. Her family lost their home so Athena obviously lost everything too. She’s a bit shy and stressed at our first meeting, but it’s clear she was outstandingly taken care of and even had six weeks of obedience training and it shows! Her leash manners are good, she sits before being asked (she sees the treat in my hand), and also knows ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’ and ‘paw’. We’re told that she’s friendly and playful and needs to warm up to strangers at first. She was a bit shy with me, but when a staff person she knows enters our pen Athena is all about tail wags and snuggles with her friend. It was lovely to watch. We’re also told that she loves to play with balls and toys, is active, has been around teenagers and likes other animals. She’s both housetrained and wee wee pad trained (how perfect for those stormy nights cold nights). At 10 months old she’s active and ready to begin a new life with a new person or family. Acing her behavior assessment indicates she’ll be a good fit in just about any home. She’s spayed, elegant, gorgeous and ready to love again. Her family was devastated to leave her
behind and after spending time with her I can see why. She’s the perfect companion to an active person who loves dogs. Does describe you?
