09/12/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: It’s confession time….I could have stayed and cuddled with Ashby all day…..She’s so tiny and affectionate, sweet and easy, she makes it easy to fall in love with her. She’s a tiny peanut in a tan coat, a bit too thin, likely housetrained, and sits before being asked to in exchange for a treat which she takes gently. She pulls hard on the leash so will benefit from a harness and/or some leash training, and from time to time bites up on the leash to play but is responsive to a firm ‘no’. She seems to like dogs of all sizes, greeting a large Rottie through the fence with a tail wag, and in group play greets others politely and briefly solicits play. She poses so perfectly for photos, making soft eye contact, that I took a gazillion. Of course, I love her perfect ears framing her gamine face. She’s just adorable! Coming in my lap for some cuddling, she almost fits, and nothing deters her from accepting some hugs and offering some kisses. Come meet our sweet girl today, and allow enough time to cuddle. You won’t go home without her!
09/12/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ashby pulls a bit on the leash. She was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. Lola was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. She played tug-of-war with the leash during tag interaction. Ashby ate faster, was stiff and very difficult to push out of the food bowl, but did not growl, snap or bite. She was easy to handle when chewing on toys but took the rawhide away with a stiff body language. Ashby may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address this food guarding behavior. She is an active dog she need a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. The behavior department feels that she can go to an experienced home without children. Look: 3.
