Medical Behavior Evaluation GREEN
Medical Summary 08/21/15 16:19 S/O: initial exam. microchip scan negative. 10.8 lbs. teeth have minimal tartar. eyes clear OU. ears clean AU. mm’s pink, moist. matted haircoat, especially on hind legs. left hind paw has wound on dorsal surface of the digit with swelling of the soft tissue. cleaned with nolvasan solution. tail has significant wounding to the distal aspect – possibly self-inflicted by chewing or other trauma. male intact with 2 descended testicles. auscultation WNL. abdominal palpation WNL. BCS 4/9. when walking in cage he seems very uncomfortable, as if he does not want to sit down or is in pain, but he is amb x 4 and does not have any significant lameness on exam. A: wounds on tail and left hind paw matted hair coat P: cleaned wounds with nolvasan start clavamox 125 mg PO BID x 14 days start tramadol 25 mg PO BID x 7 days (then re-evaluate pain) start gabapentin 100 mg PO BID x 7 days (then re-evaluate pain) start metacam (5 mg/ml injectable solution): give 0.1 ml SQ SID x 5 days needs grooming – signed up prognosis is good overall – his tail may need to be ampuated (it is already a short stump, but the wound may not heal well and may require amputation to allow it to heal).
