A volunteer writes: What time is it? Time to put on a happy face and smile, smile, smile! Artem’s sunny personality and incredible good looks are magnetic and our handsome boy draws admirers wherever he goes, his face positively beaming as he plays and snuggles with his friends. He’s big and bold and not a dog for the faint of heart but when it comes to commands it seems Artem already knows quite a few and he’ll come when called, sit politely and get ‘down’ from one of his wonderfully enthusiastic hugs on request. A good leash walker who likes to follow his nose, he takes care of business immediately and often once we hit the street and always greets other dogs with keen but friendly interest. Artem came to us with his twin brother, Fabian (A1033724), so as you’d expect he aced the doggie socialization portion of his behavior assessment, approaching the ‘helper dog’ with a soft body and his usual cheerful demeanor. Off-leash he’s all about the snuggles, jumping up for kisses and standing belly rubs or clambering all over me when we sit on the bench and while he’ll pause to softly snarfle treats, people always come first for Artem and he has zero interest in chasing a ball or doing anything that’s too far away from his human. Artem will need an experienced adopter able to handle his exuberant style of loving but his big heart is in the right place and once in a stable environment with plenty of exercise and entertainment, this gorgeous guy is going to shine like a star. Put on a smile and some sneakers and hurry in to our Manhattan Care Center for a playdate with a pro, Artem can’t wait to meet you!
04/23/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Artem was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. He was overexcited during handling, jumping up, grabbing at the leash, and was hard to position, but showed no aggression. Artem became overaroused during the tag interaction, grabbing the leash and did not calm down easily. He did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. Artem took the toy and rawhide away but had soft body language. He approaches the helper dog with his tail at spine level, body not stiff, lip long. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter. This dog is a high energy dog he needs an adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. We also recommend a home without children Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2.
